Madshus, of Lillehammer, is one of the very few Norwegian ski producers that survived the fiberglass apolcalypse that hit the industry in the early 70s. While not a major player in racing in the 60s and 70s, Madshus is now seen very often on the feet of world cup skiers, as well as mortals.
The text underfoot gives the best description of the skis: "These skis are produced based on years of research and close collaboration with some of the best skiers in the country. To ensure maximum strength and stability, only hickory is used for the top plate and for the base. Each ski is glued together from 60 laminations of birch, beech, and light spruce. The tops are covered with 3 coats of varnish, and the bases are impregnated with tar."
Couple of comments - the edges are lignostone (compressed beech) and due to the use of hickory, are not the lightest skis around, but they are stable!!! Couple of base dings (see pics) which are common for skis of this age.
NOTE: 79mm 3 pin bindings included. They will be removed prior to shipment of the skis to prevent damage to the bases. If the buyer does not want the bindings, Skifabrikk will reduce the price of the skis by $10.
